Bound together by trailing cords, these strange pilgrims appear less like individuals than members of some ancient, forgotten order. Their birdlike beaks, twisted features, and ragged bodies recall the lesser spirits and trickster beings of medieval folklore, creatures dwelling at the margins of the mortal and divine worlds.

The luminous burden they carry suggests a multitude of captive souls, a celestial relic, or perhaps the collective dreams of humanity made manifest. Its almost joyful radiance stands in unsettling contrast to the strained expressions of its bearers. Are these underlings performing an act of devotion, bearing an offering to an unseen god, or condemned to an eternal pilgrimage? Like so many ancient myths, the image offers no certain answer, only the haunting suggestion of a sacred obligation whose meaning has been forgotten, but whose power endures.

Reverse: Created through my automatic drawing process, this spontaneous gathering of spectral faces emerges from a tangle of shadow and shifting forms.
