In this richly layered composition, a council of hybrid faces—part human, part myth—emerges from a cloaked figure whose garment unfurls into tattered cloth, caught in unseen winds. Each face is unique, yet they are bound together, forming a singular, shifting identity. Their unified gaze contrasts with the pointed hand that gestures toward something beyond the frame—a moment of direction in the midst of ambiguity. Direction of the Wind explores the tensions between choice and instinct, individuality and collectivity, offering a surreal meditation on identity in flux. A conversation piece that draws viewers in again and again, this work holds space for mystery and meaning alike.
Reverse: A monumental face emerges from the clouds, its mouth issuing forth wind and cascading streams of mist, as if shaping the weather with its breath. Suspended across the image is a thin wire—like a drawn boundary or filament of fate—inviting the viewer to question what is being held, what is breaking, and what is merely passing through. This monochrome companion to the larger work distills the theme into a stark, atmospheric symbol.
