In Emerging, a red, mask-like face rises from layered, organic forms, its luminous eyes fixed forward as smaller figures and faces surface around it. The composition suggests birth, memory, and identity coalescing at once—an emergence not of a single being, but of many voices resolving into one. The surrounding forms feel protective yet confining, as though consciousness itself is pushing through accumulated experience. This painting speaks to becoming: the slow, uneasy act of arriving into awareness while still carrying the echoes of what came before.

Alternate title: "Veil of Proteus" as it reminded me of the shape-shifting sea-god of Greek mythology.
