Grasp; a colossal hand rises from the earth, its surface formed entirely from human faces—some anguished, some contemplative, some vacant. Grasp invokes the image of a root system that has accumulated identities over time, suggesting memory, ancestry, and the weight of collective experience. The hand reaches upward as if seeking freedom or recognition, yet its emergence from a cracked, barren ground evokes struggle. The painting becomes a meditation on how individuals are shaped—and sometimes trapped—by the generations that came before them, a monument to the ways that history continues to grasp us long after we believe we’ve let go.
