Hello Mother confronts the viewer with an unsettling inversion of nurture, where birth and consumption blur into a single gesture. The towering maternal figure looms not as protector, but as an overwhelming inevitability, her attention fixed on the fragile form at her mouth. The title introduces a note of tragic irony—what should be a greeting of safety becomes an encounter with something vast, ancient, and indifferent. The painting explores the terror embedded in origin itself: the realization that what brings us into the world also possesses the power to reclaim us.
