In this reimagining of Lamia, the fabled devourer from Greek mythology, the figure emerges not as a singular monster but as a chimera of feline grace, serpentine scale, and avian chaos. Her crowned human head, radiant yet unsettling, presides over a body that resists containment, ending in twin bird heads that mock with laughter. Behind her, the ruin of an ancient city glows in the burning light of a setting sun, where colossal stone faces bear silent witness. The shaped semicircle panel, passed down from Tom Forrestall, infuses the work with a lineage of experimentation, binding personal inheritance to mythic vision. In this dreamlike tableau, Lamia is both a personal apparition and a timeless archetype—an embodiment of transformation, ruin, and the haunted beauty of forgotten civilizations.
