In Mother of Shadows, a veiled, monumental figure presides over a small, spectral head, while immense eyes loom in the background like witnesses or memories. The composition suggests guardianship entwined with sacrifice, nurturing shadowed by inevitability. The mother figure appears less as an individual than as an archetype—an embodiment of grief, protection, and ancestral continuity. This is a painting about the cost of creation and care, where love endures even as it absorbs loss, and where watching itself becomes a form of burden.
