Deanna and I were cruising south along the Lighthouse Route, Nova Scotia seeking fresh inspiration. We passed through the tiny community of Squid Cove and a few minutes later saw a sign for Goat Lake Road: the tale of Squidgoat was born! It recalls some of the iconic lore of our Maritime province; tales of fishermen who came face to face with mysteries of the deep at times pulling strange creatures up from the murky depths onto the decks of their boats. Did they ever catch the elusive Squidgoat or does he still swim free in our nighttime dreams?
