The Runaway, 2021

The Runaway depicts identity as something both carried and pursued, a procession of masks stretching backward through time. The fleeing figure appears small against the immense, hollowed faces that follow, suggesting ancestral selves, imposed roles, or former versions of the psyche that refuse to be outpaced. The extended tongue bridging figures becomes a visceral tether—speech, inheritance, or trauma—binding the present self to what it attempts to escape. Flight here is not freedom, but a negotiation with the many faces one has worn or been given.
